Parties (customers & suppliers)

Goal

Know how customers and suppliers share one party record in BlueMatrix, and where to open each screen.

Who it is for

Anyone with party.view (lists and hubs). Create needs party.create; edit party.update; archive party.delete; setup party.admin.

How parties work

1. A party is a person or organization. Flags is_customer / is_supplier decide which lists and hubs show it.
2. There is no combined “all parties” list in the app — use Directory → Customers or Directory → Suppliers.
3. One party can be both a customer and a supplier (create checkbox or hub Roles toggle).
4. Customers carry a customer profile (payment terms, credit/cheque limits, credit hold, price group). Suppliers carry a supplier profile (payment terms, currencies).
5. Shared tenant policies live under Directory → Parties setup (party.admin): duplicate matching, required fields, code numbering, inactive reasons.

Open the screens

• Directory → People → Customers — sell-to counterparties (party.view).
• Directory → People → Suppliers — buy-from counterparties (party.view).
• Directory → People → Parties setup — matching and required-field policies (party.admin).
